1. Introduction
PetMed AI (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our iOS application. PetMed AI is an educational veterinary reference tool — not a diagnostic platform — and our data practices reflect this focused purpose.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Anonymous Authentication
PetMed AI uses Firebase Anonymous Authentication. When you first open the app, a random, anonymous user ID (UID) is generated. We do not collect your name, email address, password, phone number, or any other personal identifiers. The anonymous UID is used solely for managing your in-app session and subscription state.
2.2 AI Queries & Images
When you use AI-powered features (Vision Labs, Specialist Chat, or Cough Analyzer), your text messages and any attached images are sent to Google's AI services (Gemini) via Firebase for processing. These queries are not stored by PetMed AI. Images you analyze are processed in real-time and are not saved on any server. Google's data processing is governed by their own privacy policies.
Your consent is required: The app presents a mandatory consent dialog before your first AI interaction, clearly disclosing what data is sent, who receives it, and how it is protected. You must explicitly accept before any data is transmitted. You may review or revoke your AI data consent at any time via Profile > AI Data & Privacy.
2.3 Subscription Data
Subscription management is handled by RevenueCat using anonymized identifiers. RevenueCat receives your anonymous App User ID and Apple subscription receipt data. No personal information is shared with RevenueCat. Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store.
2.4 Analytics & Crash Reporting
We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymized usage data (e.g., screen views, feature usage) to improve the app experience. We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect anonymous crash reports and performance data to identify and fix issues. Neither service collects personally identifiable information. No data is linked to your identity.
2.5 Offline Tools
All clinical calculators, drug formulary, dental anatomy, and other offline tools operate entirely on-device. No data from these tools is transmitted to any server.
3. Information We Do NOT Collect
- No personal information (name, email, phone number)
- No location data
- No device contacts or calendar data
- No browsing history or usage analytics tied to identity
- No health data linked to you personally
- No third-party tracking or advertising SDKs
- No cookies or web tracking technologies

5. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including Firebase App Check for API security, encrypted HTTPS/TLS connections for all data transmission, and anonymized user identification. Since we do not collect personal data, risks associated with data breaches are inherently minimized.
6. Account Deletion
You may delete your account and all associated data at any time via Profile > Delete Account & Data. This permanently deletes your anonymous Firebase account, all locally stored data (chat history, saved drugs, preferences), and revokes AI data sharing consent. The deletion is immediate and irreversible.
7. Children's Privacy
PetMed AI is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Since our app uses anonymous authentication only, no age-identifiable data is collected from any user.
8. GDPR & CCPA Compliance
PetMed AI is designed to be privacy-compliant by default. Since we do not collect personal information:
- GDPR (EU): No personal data processing means minimal GDPR obligations. We do not use consent-based tracking or profiling.
- CCPA (California): We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
- Data Requests: If you believe any data has been collected in error, you may contact us to request deletion.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
