1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using PetMed AI (“the App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and PetMed AI (“we,” “our,” or “us”).

2. Educational Use Only

PetMed AI is designed exclusively as an educational reference tool for veterinary students and pet owners. The App provides AI-powered educational analysis, specialist chatbot interactions, and clinical calculator tools for learning purposes only.

3. User Responsibilities

By using PetMed AI, you acknowledge and agree that:

• You will use the App solely for educational and reference purposes
• You will always consult a licensed veterinarian for your pet's health concerns
• You are solely responsible for any clinical decisions you make
• You will not rely on AI-generated content as a substitute for professional veterinary care
• In emergency situations, you will contact your local emergency veterinary hospital immediately
• You will not use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws

4. AI Limitations & Accuracy

The AI features in PetMed AI (Vision Labs and Specialist Chatbots) are powered by general-purpose AI models (Google Gemini via Firebase AI). These models:

• Are not certified for veterinary diagnostic use
• May produce inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading information
• Should not be considered a reliable source for clinical decision-making
• May not reflect the most current veterinary research or guidelines
• Cannot replace the expertise, physical examination, and diagnostic capabilities of a licensed veterinarian

While our clinical calculators are based on published veterinary references (Plumb's, RECOVER, AAHA, Merck), users should always verify calculations and dosages with current professional resources before any clinical application.

5. Subscription Terms

5.1 Plans & Pricing

PetMed AI offers subscription plans through the Apple App Store:

• Weekly Plan: $4.99/week
• Yearly Plan: $39.99/year (includes 3-day free trial)

5.2 Auto-Renewal

Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.

5.3 Free Trial

The yearly plan includes a 3-day free trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription. Any unused portion of a free trial period will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription.

5.4 Cancellation

You can cancel your subscription at any time through Apple's subscription management settings (Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds are provided for partial subscription periods.

6. Intellectual Property

All content, features, functionality, design, code, and trademarks of PetMed AI are owned by us and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works of, publicly display, or exploit any content from the App without our prior written consent.

Drug dosage information is referenced from published veterinary textbooks and guidelines. These references are cited for educational transparency and do not imply endorsement by the original publishers.

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, PETMED AI AND ITS DEVELOPERS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

• Any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
• Any loss or injury to animals arising from use of or reliance on the App
• Any inaccuracies in AI-generated content or calculator outputs
• Any decisions made based on information provided by the App
• Any interruption or unavailability of the App or its services

The App is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless PetMed AI, its developers, and affiliates from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the App, violation of these Terms, or reliance on any information provided by the App for clinical purposes.

9. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the App will immediately cease. All provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including ownership, warranty disclaimers, and limitations of liability.

10. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the use of the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in California.

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
